"Wait." Pistolheart called. "I might have to be leader. There is no one else, like you said." He might love her. A tingle went through him. He did like her! "If we have pups........." He trailed off. Thats when he knew. One day he might have to fight them in battle. He could never do that.

She turned around. "So...you do like me?" Without waiting for an answer, she raced over and landed on top of him. She gave his nose a lick, and laughed. Then, as a response to the pups, she said: "You would never have to fight them, if you didn't want to. They could belong to Streampack. And, I could not have pups, or else I would have to step down from my position. But since there is no one to fill my place, the Pack would be in danger." She sighed as she thought of the things she COULDN'T do as leader.

Darkmoon satyed quiet for quite a bit, crying inside. She didn't want Pistolheart to see how much she longed for pups, but couldn't have them. But then the tears started to slowly leak out. She pressed her face against Pistolheart, wanting it to all go away.

Pistolheart grunted when Darkmoon nearly squashed him. He licked her on the muzzle, then nuzzled her cheek. An idea strucked him. "You can raise your pups, then when they are oldish, you can take one or some pups to the camp and pretend that it is a lost pup, and we will take it in. So I would have some of my own kin." He hoped the idea would work.

Then an old saying came to her. It couldn't change the warrior code, but it might help soothe her. "Though my Pack stands behind me, I must stand alone. This reminds me that we are allowed to make our own decisions, but this will never change the Warrior code." She said.

"I have an idea." And she whispered it in his ear. The idea was to become pregnant, but still be Pack leader. Then, when the day came for the kits to be apprenticed, we (Darkmoon and Pistolheart) would make our way to the Glowing Rocks, and confess to Moonpack that we had broken the warrior code. They will forgive us, I'm sure. Then we would let the pups decide where they wanted to go.

"Well? It's better than secrecy for the rest of our lives!" She said, still lying on Pistolheart.

"I don't know." Pistolheart murmured. "Our Clans might not trust us after this....." He looked down at the ground and leaned agianst Darkmoon. Why must clan life be so complicated?

Darkmoon sighed. "I know. But there seems no other way, and even if we do your way, the secret will get out somehow. We must make a journey to the Glowing Rocks. We have to ask Moonpack, but even if they do not accept, we shall do it anyways. ait's like the old saying goes. 'Though my Pack stands behind me, I must stand alone.' Oh, Pistolheart..." She licked him again, at seemed that the pain Darkmoon felt surged through both of them. "Ok. I'll meet you back here in five minutes. I need to go get travelling herbs." She said, and darted off.

Pistolheart looked at her. He nodded then watched her run off. What was she doing? Was the MoonPack really going to accept their love?

She returned, as promised, and she said to Pistolheart: "Let's go. I broght enough for the both of us." And she started to walk towards the Glowing Rocks.
